Correct, this is what I believe to be happening in this case. But it is just a guess, I don't know how XIM handles on mic data packets.

I solved this way, if you have two dualshocks connect the second in slot b and you will have perfectly functioning audio and microphone logically by inserting the headphone jack in the controller plug in slot "B".
