Gtuner.exe - No Disk

Postby Snuffy » Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:53 pm

When I start Gtuner IV on my desktop machine I get an error window informing me there is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive K.

I get this error for drives H,I,J,K. I have to press continue or either cancel twice per drive before the Gtuner will load.

Gtuner Pro has never done this.

Running Windows 10 Pro

By investigating this issue more deeply, turned out this message is generated by Windows and not by Gtuner IV. The message is triggered when trying to access mapped drivers, normally USB sticks, that are not available at the moment (not connected).

Unfortunately there are not much we can do on Gtuner IV, as by just checking if the driver exists, or if it is readable, Windows shows the message.

There are, however, two solutions and one workaround:

Solution 1) Connect the USB stick.
Solution 2) Delete all unused mapped drivers.

Workaround: The error messages can be suppressed by setting 2 to registry key ErrorMode in:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL\MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows

This is a one time thing long as you appoint a directory in Gtuner IV. Then it will open correctly.

Very true and this is another workaround. By setting a working directory, Gtuner IV will not try check the storage drivers, so no messages will be shown. :joia: Thanks for remind me about that.
