Splatoon 2 + Titan two
Splatoon 2 + Titan two
Making a centralized thread for this, as more people trickle in by buying a titan 2 for Splatoon 2...

Current status:
-Stick translation working very well as of 3/7 script update, thanks to our resident patron saint J2Kbr. Further optimization is possible but it'll be running into the limit of what stick translation can do.
-Gyro translation is possible BUT very difficult. The Y axis is a relative and not absolute position, it's hard to translate from mouse motion into that. J2Kbr has stated it's possible, but would require significant development investment. True gyro translation has the potential to be indistinguishable from mouse input, because gyro input to the switch is much smoother and developed better, stick aiming was an afterthought for the splatoon 2 devs
I personally will be getting my titan 2 in this afternoon and will be conducting significant testing in the practice range
update as of 10/18/22
a fellow named bocian on twitter managed to get gyro inputs working with mouse, opening the door to true 1:1 translation. Read through pages 6 and 7 for more info, the script posted by cheddartime is a good starting point and has the core translation smarts

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
alright, everything set up, first impressions are....not great
J2Kbr confirmed that all my settings are within expectations but this does not feel right.
to confirm, here's my setup:
although that last image is misleading, j2kbr confirmed that the switch doesn't do controller authentication so you don't need the pro controller plugged in after setting this up

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
the latest update of switch makes titan two not working on this console anymore, anyone too?

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
Same here, looks like just a simple minor communication update broke it. happens all the time with console updates
j2kbr confirmed he's aware of the issue and is on the case, he's also confirmed he'll start working on a gyro implementation instead of stick, which should fix the problems i was having with the y axis not responding right and over sensitive small movements

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
The firmware released today adds support for the changes made on the Nintendo Switch 5.0.0. Everything should be working as expected now.
I will be working on the mouse -> gyro translation for Splatoon 2 soon.

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
yay it's fixed, thanks.
possibly something to look into while you're under the hood, there seems to be a sensitivity or look movement speed drop or something while you're swimming in ink and trying to look around, like it's tugging on your reticle. not sure what might be causing that?

You are correct. I noticed that as well. While standing still the aiming is more sensitive than while walking/running/swimming. this is something on the game, not related with the Input Translator.

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
sorry to pester but, do you know how long that translator transition might take?
i mean yeah gyro is quite a bit different from stick, but would it be a several months long development effort with a serious rewrite or more like a week long journey of poking it until it works nicely.
this is of course assuming there's no gigantic blocking issue that completely prevents further development

Re: Splatoon 2 + Titan two
I think gyro control is like 1 : 1 of joy con movement to pointer movement .
Thats why its accurate and quick.
Unlike stick, it has a great amout of acceleration.
I believe J2 will find the trick to do the translation though it is not easy
