Thank you for checking. It is the 2014 revision. Unfortunately, based on what you described, there is not much that can be done. The firmware update data is encrypted based on the device's serial number. Without a valid SN is not possible perform update. It seems your device, if not defective, would require a factory programming, which is done with specialized equipment.
