backward compatibility for older consoles

Postby reploid » Tue Jul 01, 2014 8:48 pm

hi, just wondering if any consideration will be given for older consoles such as the original xbox, ps2 and gamecube/wii. i know this is probably not a priority with the release of nxt gen consoles such as the ps4 and xbox one. if its too complicated or time consuming to include support for these older consoles into the main firmware would you consider releasing a separate firmware just for older consoles in the firmware update section so users could switch back and forth. thanks for making such a great product and your continued work in improving its capabilities.

I'm think the PS2 and gamecube would require additional hardware to convert the USB signals/ports. The Original xbox could work as although it had a different plug, the controller ports where just custom USB ports. You can cut the lead from your controller and turn the xbox ports into USB ports without too much effort. You never know, it may work anyway with the 360 protocols.

KittyDawn are completely right. May be possible add support for some old consoles, but we don't see a demand for it. However, if the users demand is significant, without doubt we will work on that.

thanks for the replies. i know connecting gpp to the original xbox would be the easiest as there is a female usb to xbox adaptor on the market. to connect it to the ps2 would require daisy chaining some adaptors mainly the female usb to xbox adaptor and the xbox to ps2 controller adaptor. the xbox to ps2 adaptor allows u to use the old xbox controller on the ps2 and for gc\wii would require the ps2 to gc adaptor. i have daisy chained a few adaptors myself with no noticeable lag. well, i hope one day the older consoles will be supported if even at the end of gpp life cycle or gpp2.

It would be brilliant if these two popular Playstation 2 to Xbox 360/USB adapters could be made fully accessible with the Titan One:

The second picture alludes to the reason why it would be so useful. There are lots of amazingly good controllers that were for the Playstation 2 that disabled people use/can make use of. These include a range of one-hand controllers (search Google Images for "one handed controllers ps2" and you'll see a load), quality arcade sticks and a number of custom built controllers.

Presently, it seems the only way you can connect is on PS3 or via PCs. Xbox 360 and Xbox One don't work for some strange reason. If you'd like for me to send you the two adapters, I'm happy to do so.

Hope you'll consider this.

That will help me a lot. Having the adapters "in hand", I believe, I will be able to add support for it pretty fast. Let me think about it for a while, but surely we can do it on Titan One.

Please let me know how I can send you my address and how much the adapters cost.

Doh! I've just seen this, quite late, but it would still be a massively useful feature. Ping me at [email protected] and I'll arrange to send you the adapters if you're still up for it. Would be fantastic if these One Handed Controllers and others, could be easily made to work.

I'm also hoping XCM will one day make a Wii U converter to enable Titan One to connect via the PC link up system. That would be pretty fantastic too.

Thanks Jefferson.
