Titan One in a VM?

Postby tutu10 » Wed May 29, 2019 2:59 am

I'm about to try to make a VMware virtual machine with the intent of running Titan One, that will run on vSphere (dell blades) and was wondering if anybody else has already done it?

I/d like to use ARTnet. The dongle will just be a dongle, not an output. The USB port/ dongle is about the only thing that might trip me up.

VMWare Fusion works with a Titan One on a Mac, but the T1 can be very fussy about the USB cable. I only ever used it to configure Gtuner Pro when I didn't have a working PC handy.

Other VM apps (Parallels, VirtualBox) can also be difficult in regards to sharing USB devices with the host machine. You can explicitly tell VMWare what to do when connecting a USB device (connect to host, connect to VM or prompt), which is critical.

Also note that mouse & keyboard drivers in the VM are highly unlikely to work in the host environment.

Honestly, you're better off dual-booting a Linux or Mac machine with Win10, or building a cheap Win 10 PC to avoid all of these issues.
