Do I need to authenticate

I just bought the Titan one solely for running simple scripts and hitting. I don't need the ability to switch controllers. Do I need to airdate a controller for this or can I just load my scripts and it work? I tried looking for this but maybe I didn't look hard enough...

Plug your controller in via usb cable to the titan, then titan in to the console.
If it flashes "AU" it couldn't authenticate, otherwise you're good to go.
