Wheel sensitivity settings

Postby glenntidbury » Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:06 pm

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has found a good setup for playing ds4 based racing games using a wheel.

I thought I had it sorted before, but the more I play, the more I realise that the sensitivity and deadzones are still really off.

I'm still finding that, even with zero deadzone, I have to turn the wheel too much before I can start a car turning.... and then when it does start, it turns so sharply that it's totally uncontrollable.

I can play the same games with ds4 and don't have any issues.

In non wheel compatible games, I don't want to have to turn the wheel more than about 60 degrees either side of centre.... so I want that to be full on (100.0). I'd like to be able to also make very small adjustments though, so turning the wheel only a few degrees, will put it on, but at the lowest available value (20.0?) to be registered by the ps4.

So I'm guessing that what I need is a very small dead zone, and a sensitivity value that starts low, but increases as the wheel is turned, capping out at 100.0 once the wheel is turned around 60 degrees?

I've tried playing with the wheel sensitivity script, but just can't find any values that work.

And as I said, even with zero deadzone set, it still doesn't seem to work IN GAME until I've turned the wheel a fair bit, and then it's very sharp, like steering is full on.

Really struggling with this, anyone got any recommendations?

To remove or reduce the game deadzone, the deadzone value on the script should be increased. This setting will set the minimum value to be send to the console. Example, the game has a deadzone of 20%, meaning any value below 20% is considered same as 0%. So to remove/compensate the game deadzone you should configure the deadzone value on the script to 20.

Ok,I was definitely using it wrong then haha.

Thanks for that. I'm going away for a week, but I'll test this again when I get back.

Cheers.
